In memory of Surendra Dahyabhai Patel.

We miss you, my friend.
From two thousand feet, where Claudette Sanders was taking a flying lesson, the town of Chester's Mill gleamed in the morning light like something freshly made and just set down.

Under the Dome

Legendary the world over, Stephen King stands alone as the master of horror.  In Under the Dome, a quiet Maine town is thrown into chaos when an invisible force field suddenly appears, cutting off the townspeople from the rest of society.

Short-order cook Dale Barbara is walking near the edge of Chester's Mill when he sees a plane abruptly collide with something midair and go down in flames.  He presses his hand to an invisible barrier as birds drop dead from the sky.  The town has been sealed off from the outside.  But the greatest threat comes from inside - where greed and the thirst for power run rampant.

From the gloriously grotesque mind behind Carrie and The Stand comes a story only King could craft.  As enthralling as it is horrifying, this psychological thriller is vividly realized through Raúl Esparza's narration.

"... a nonstop thrill ride as well as a disturbing, moving meditation on our capacity for good and evil." - Publishers Weekly

"A, fast pace and compelling narrative make the reader's time fly.  Highly recommended." - Library Journal

"Its  vintage King: wonderfully written, good, creepy, old-school fun." - Kirkus Reviews

  • I try to maintain page numbers for audiobooks even though obviously there aren't any. I do this to keep track of pages read and I try to use the Kindle version page numbers for this.
  • Synopses marked with an asterisk (*) were generated by an AI. There aren't a lot since this is an iffy way to do it - AI seems to make stuff up.
  • When specific publication dates are unknown (ie prefixed with a "Cir"), I try to get the publication date that is closest to the specific printing that I can.
  • When listing chapters, I only list chapters relevant to the story. I will usually leave off Author Notes, Indices, Acknowledgements, etc unless they are relevant to the story or the book is non-fiction.
  • Page numbers on this site are for the end of the main story. I normally do not include appendices, extra material, and other miscellaneous stuff at the end of the book in the page count.

See my goodreads icon goodreads page. I almost never do reviews, but I use this site to catalogue books.
See my librarything icon librarything page. I use this site to catalogue books and it has more details on books than goodreads does.
